The epitome of an eh bland average meal. The good part? The NE clam chowder, thick creamy perfect portion of potatoes and clams. Very good! The chicken parmesan...was good. Not very good but good. Needed more gravy on the linguine underneath.

We ate here for the second year in a row on vacation. I remember this place from when I was a kid and my family made it our one night out to eat when we were on vacation. It's a fantastic place, right on the water, so it's nice to walk along the pier and check out the fishing and leisure boats docked right there. Ask for a table with a water view. The inside is very quaint and rustic, old school jersey shore vibe. They have a nice bar to sit at and wait for your table. I definitely recommend reservations during the summer. Everything we had was delicious and cooked properly. Our group had a range of seafood and steaks and chicken. I had the surf and turf, amazing. My wife loved her stuffed lobster and my daughter said the chicken dish she had was fantastic. Prices are high, but that's what you get in the peak tourist season and a top notch shore restaurant. It can get a bit crowded. Our waiter was very friendly but a bit slow at times to check in on drink refills, etc.

Similar to the Lobster House in Cape May, but better. Good location, with water view. Free parking. The salad bar was good. Fairly priced.

The bad. Crab cake. Eh. Bland. Boring. And the oysters on a half she'll were plain awful. I don't know how this is possible but they had NO taste. Not enough lemon or cocktail sauce in the world could help them. Thankfully without complaint the waitress noticed the lack of eaten seafood and without asking she took the crab cake off of the bill. I wouldn't recommend or come back too many other places to try.

If there was an option for zero stars I would choose that one. My family ate at this restaurant every weekend throughout the summer. One night we were told the wait was going to be 45 minutes, which was fine for our family because we enjoy the atmosphere and the food. We had waited for about 40 minutes and went up to ask the host how much longer they expected. We were told we were fifth table to be seated. Immediately following a family of 9 waiting next to us could not tolerate the wait. The man went up to the host and complained after only waiting for about 10 minutes. They were told they were sixth. Well George, the host, who also happens to be the owners son preferred to seat the party of 9. They were seated immediately, so we went and complained George informed us that when they have the opportunity to seat a large party they take it. So I went up after waiting another 30 minutes asking how much longer the wait would be, and mind you we have an 85 year old with us. George told me we had one party in front of us. He came out and called the party of 6. We waited another 5 minutes and George followed his moto that larger parties are better and sat a party of 8 using two tables. This will be the last time my family goes to The Shrimp Box. Your 'family' restaurant George, does not cater to families. Let's be honest you are just looking for the biggest tip. Way to go George!

Always a great place to eat. Atmosphere is wonderful. You look out over the water and watch the fishing boats come and go. They have a patio bar that looked busy while we were eating. My wife had stuffed flounder and I had stuffed salmon. Both wer very delicious. The waitress should have been more attentive, but that didn't take away from the good meal. It just affected her tip.
